Learn to Read Music for Choir Members – Free Workshop

This free Learn to Read Music for Choir Members workshop is for anyone who is a member of a choir or is thinking of joining one. This event is hosted by WAVE choir as part of the wonderful Waltham Forest ChoirFest 2019!

Always wanted to know how to read those pesky music scores at your choir rehearsals? Now’s your chance? This two hour course, taught by leading musicianship tutor Selena Kay, will help you understand the basic principles of Western music notation relating to choral scores. By the end of the two hours you should be able to follow the pattern of notes while music is being sung or played, understand where the different vocal and instrumental parts are located, and read/sing a simple tune.

The activities in the class will include tutor presentation/demonstration, class discussion; exercises in reading, writing and singing music, and following a score whilst listening. No prior knowledge of music notation is expected but you will be involved or interested in choral singing.

This event is supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
